I am Rianne Smit, a Dutch author known for my honest, humorous, and deeply personal writing. My debut book Eindeloos is written in the style of an internet diary and follows the life of Jaan — a 33-year-old Frisian woman living in Noord-Brabant.
Jaan lives with bipolar disorder, has Indonesian roots, and describes herself as “a quarter blood who turned out a little too blonde.” In 2003 she reinvented herself as a brunette. She is twice divorced, has no children, but shares her life with a sweet yet traumatized dog named Cabbie.
Through sharp humor and raw honesty, the diary explores her endlessly complicated love life. One man after another enters the story — some stay longer than others — while Jaan navigates heartbreak, hope, and the occasional well-deserved thought of revenge.
The title Eindeloos (Endless) refers both to the lifelong search for lasting love and to the fact that a weblog-style story is never truly finished.
